Former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Christian Alliegro has committed to Ohio State. Alliegro, who entered the transfer portal on December 15, ranks as the No. 10 linebacker in the transfer portal. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
The Buckeyes have now landed five transfers during the two-week cycle, including tight end Mason Williams, wide receiver Devin McCuin, defensive tackle John Walker, long snapper Dalton Riggs, and now Alliegro. Less than one week remains in the transfer portal period and the Buckeyes will look to continue making additions to the team.
The Buckeyes linebacker room has been a topic of discussion in recent weeks. With Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese set to go to the draft, the Buckeyes needed an extra body to replace the production being lost. Alliegro had a solid season in 2025, generating a career-high 4 sacks. Riley Pettijohn is expected to make a leap in year two and freshman phenom Cincere Johnson could also make some noise. Former Buckeyes All-American linebacker James Laurinaitis has done a superb job since coming back to Columbus and will look to continue developing at the highest level.
Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia’s first year in Columbus was simply dominant. The former Super Bowl champion assistant led the Buckeyes defense to a historic season. The unit finished at the top in points allowed and yards per play, while holding opponents to under 8 points per game in the regular season. Now, Patricia will look to do some of the same with a vastly different group of players. Regardless of who is on the field, the goal still remains to win a national title. Having fallen short of a repeat in the loss to the Miami Hurricanes, the Buckeyes will look to make it back to the big game and achieve greatness once again.
